Editorial Manual Criteria

Margin Writing and Bibliography

Books

Author name, book title, name of translator or editor, edition (place of publication: publisher, date of publication), page number. Example:

• Nabil Ali, Arab Culture and the Information Age, World of Knowledge Series 265 (Kuwait: National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, 2001), p. 227.

• Kate Nash, Contemporary Political Sociology: Globalization, Politics and Power, translated by Haidar Haj Ismail (Beirut: Arab Organization for Translation, 2013), p. 116.

The book is cited in the immediately disloyal footnote as follows: Nash, p. 117.

If there is more than one reference to the same author, the title is used abbreviated: Nash, Sociology, p. 117.

The book is cited in the immediately following footnote: Ibid., p. 118.

As for the list of references, the book responds as follows:

• Nash, Kate. Contemporary Political Sociology: Globalization, Politics, and Power. Translated by Haider Haj Ismail. Beirut: Arab Organization for Translation, 2013.

For a book co-authored by more than three authors, the name of the lead author, editor, or compiler is written with the words "et al." Example:

• Mr. Yassin et al., Analysis of the Content of Arab Nationalist Thought, 4th Edition (Beirut: Center for Arab Unity Studies, 1991), p. 109.

It is cited in the subsequent footnote as follows: Yassin et al., p. 109.

As for the list of references, it is as follows:

• Yassin, Elsayed et al. Analyzing the content of Arab nationalist thought. 4. Beirut: Center for Arab Unity Studies, 1991.

2. Patrols

Author name, “Title of the study or article”, journal name, volume and/or issue number (year of publication), page number. Example:

• Mohammed Hassan, “Arab National Security,” Strategies, Volume 15, Issue 1 (2009), p. 129.

In the list of references, we write:

• Hassan, Mohammed. “Arab National Security.” Strategies. Volume 15. Issue 1 (2009).

3. Newspaper articles

Write in the following order (mentioned in the footnotes only, without the reference list). Example:

• Ian Black, “Assad urges US to reopen diplomatic routes with Damascus”, The Guardian, 17/2/2009.

Electronic

When quoting materials published on websites, all data must be mentioned, in the following order and the same phrases: author's name if any, "article or report title", series name (if any), website name, publication date (if any), seen on 9/8/2016, at: http://www......

The link must be mentioned in full, or written briefly using a link shortener (Bitly) or (Google Shortner). Example:

• "Egyptian budget deficit rises to 4.5%", Al Jazeera Net, 24/12/2012, seen on 25/12/2012, at: http://bit.ly/2bAw2OB

• "The battles of breaking the siege of Aleppo and their field and political repercussions", Assessment of a position, Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, 10/8/2016, seen on 18/8/2016, in: http://bit.ly/2b3FLeD
